Week 7
Firstly, I apologize for not updating for so long. I never realized how difficult it would be to update every few days or so, as I had not anticipated being this busy. Or perhaps not busy, but having no willingness to go online.
Since so much has happened in the last couple of weeks, I will just update you about this week. During lectures this week we studied Proverbs with the dean of students, Steve Volle. He tackled the major themes he saw in the book, including wisdom, laziness, sin and forgiveness, financial problems, and the Proverbs 31 woman. He actually started last week because this week is shortened. This weekend is travel weekend, and tomorrow morning I am heading out at 6am to catch a train, and then another train, and then maybe some buses, in order to get to a hut in the middle of the Austrian alps. Oh yes.
Today was not a normal day either, as we didn't have classes but a worship, devotion, and prayer time this morning. This afternoon was spent practicing the discipline of silence, and it's actually been so nice not to have to talk to people. Not that I don't like talking to people, but around here, there's no such thing as privacy or solitude. Today forced us to get alone with God and it has been a good day.
We get to talk again at dinner in 15 minutes, and tonight will be spent doing more worship, sharing, and communion at an evening service.
The last few weeks have gone by so fast, and I can't believe that we're already at week 7. Before we know it, it'll be Christmas. They warned us the time here goes fast, but I don't think any of us expected it to go this fast.
God has done a lot of teaching to all of us over the past couple of weeks. I'm beginning to learn that He likes to teach, and once I understand something He teaches me something new. It's been great. Right now I am learning contentment in Him, constantly reminding myself that He doesn't promise to take us out of our circumstances, but He does promise to be sufficient for them.
Much love,
Mickeelie
P.S. And I won't be updating this blog while away on travel weekend A. because I'll be busy hiking through the Alps, and B. there's no internet at the hut. :) Cheers!

Sigh ~ a hut in the middle of the alps in one of my favourite countries!! Sounds absolutely delightful! Enjoy to the max ~ a well deserved rest with the busyness of life there!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your "silence" comments: they are truly a gift in the hectic world we live in. I treasure those moments!
Hopefully your weekend away will have some quiet moments as well and not too much yodeling or alphorn blowing or family singing going on ~ the hills are alive!! lol :)
Love Mum
Hello Mick!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to get your new blog message today, and enjoy reading this week's happenings. Wow, going to a hut in the Alps sounds sooo special.
I look forward to more pictures already!
So glad you also have quiet times, just with the Lord.
We all need that and learn to treasure it...
You are in my thoughts and prayers sweetheart,
much love, Oma
